Both mintmarks are found on the reverse along the rim. The San Francisco mint used an “S” mark and Denver a “D” to distinguish dimes struck at their facilities. Mercury dimes from 1943 begin to have collector value when they are “uncirculated,” a coin with no wear and still lustrous.

Collectors and dealers begin to attach a premium value to coins in “uncirculated” condition, coins that have remained well preserved and appear as if brand new. Although the Carson City mint produced 12,400 of these dimes, they were supposedly all melted down when the weight standard for the coins was changed. There is only one known example of the 1873 CC No Arrows Seated Liberty Dime, making it the rarest dime in existence. Uncirculated coins with a grade of MS 65 can sell for around $27.

In uncirculated condition the price is around $6 for coins with an MS 60 grade. In extremely fine condition the value is around $3.25. The 1943 dime with no mint mark is worth around $3 in very fine condition.
